2 Fire Tuesday Artist Spotlight with P the Emcee

When I first heard this song on stage I was one of a dozen I.E. rap community regulars rushing the stage asking this dude to tell us where the hell we could hear that again. He kept saying the recording and video were coming and we would ask him every time we saw him at every sesh and show and bar in the I.E. we'd spot him spitting at.

P The Emcee is a Dayton Ohio transplant now living in So Cal trying to put his music dreams into action. Out of artists I've heard in the last year for the first time, P is high on my list of people to peep and this song, and his charismatic impassioned live performance of it were a large part of why. The video doesn't fail to deliver on the grandiosity and anticipation surrounding the song and it's Scarface like desire for the world. It reminds me of that and of Luke Skywalker looking out on the horizon as P does the same, looking at a big purple sky as he soaks in and declares his dream of conquest.

His music is personal but smart, raw but sensitive. His bars will go from chest puffing real talk to intense moments of realization about fatherhood with an earnest stoner joke thrown in for good measure. He's a real character, a tenacious intra-national spitter with heart like a post-modern Pac. You can catch him at your local L.A. and I.E. show, paying more dues than a lot of people from the area as he destroys every stage he leaves his heart on. I'm glad he's dropping videos now too, peep it.
